Day 6 - Facing Our Fears

Scripture: "But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!'" - Matthew 14:30 (NIV)

Reflection: Picture Peter stepping out of the boat, eyes glued to Jesus, walking on water. It wasn't about defying physics; it was about trusting Jesus more than his fears. Each step was a testament to faith over fear. Stepping out in faith can feel a lot like stepping onto water. Whether it’s a new job, moving to a new city, or starting a family, these steps into the unknown can be terrifying. But Peter’s experience teaches us that true faith isn’t the absence of fear; it’s the presence of belief. It’s choosing to focus on the One who calls us out onto the waves, rather than the waves themselves.

Application: Think about a situation in your life where you need to step out in faith. It could be a major life change or a small daily challenge. How can you shift your focus from the "waves" (your fears and doubts) to Jesus? Today, make a conscious effort to trust in Jesus’ guidance and support. When fear starts to creep in, follow Peter’s example and cry out to Jesus for help.

Prayer: Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You when I step out in faith. When the storms of life make me feel like I’m sinking, remind me to cry out to You. Give me the strength and courage to trust in Your plan, even when it seems impossible. Thank You for always being there to catch me when I fall. Amen.

So, you might be thinking, "But Peter sank!" True, but only when he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the wind and waves. That’s the moment most of us can relate to, right? It’s easy to keep faith when skies are clear, and seas are calm. But throw in some real-life storms, and suddenly, walking on water doesn’t just seem difficult; it seems downright impossible. The key here is what Peter did next. In his fear, he cried out to Jesus, the best move any of us can make when we feel ourselves sinking.
